EMDR THERAPY

EMDR Therapy for Trauma Healing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a trauma-focused approach that recognizes how deeply trauma can affect both mind and body. EMDR is structured to first create a foundation of trust, safety, and resilience before moving into the reprocessing of traumatic memories.

Building a Foundation of Safety and Resilience

The initial phases of EMDR are focused on building a strong therapeutic relationship and teaching “resourcing” skills. Resourcing involves helping clients develop coping skills and build their capacity for self-regulation, ensuring that they feel secure and supported before we begin working with difficult memories.

Reprocessing Traumatic Memories

Once clients are ready, we move to the reprocessing phase. This part of EMDR involves therapist-guided eye movements or tapping while clients recall distressing memories. Over time, this process helps reduce the intensity of trauma responses, allowing the body and mind to respond in a more adaptive, empowered way to both memories and triggers.

A Supportive, Step-by-Step Process

If this seems complex, that’s natural—EMDR can feel like a new concept! Each step is carefully explained and paced to ensure clients feel comfortable and informed. I am here to guide you through the process with clarity and care.
